Mixer, trowel, toothed trowel such as 10×10, soft rubber trowel, sponge trowel, bucket with rollers.

The wall should be level and level. If there are loose fragments of plaster on the surface, they should be removed, then fill in the gaps, and the whole thing should be primed. The wall can be further reinforced by blending in fiberglass mesh.

Stick the brick tiles to the substrate with low or zero flow adhesive. Most of our brick tiles are adjustable in height (60 mm or 70 mm), so you can use spacer crosses (10 mm is standard). We can glue using a combination method: apply glue to the wall with a toothed trowel and the tiles and press them carefully. Remove excess glue from between the tiles before it dries.
It is best to glue tiles from several different packages to cancel out color differences.

Surface preparation for impregnation

After the adhesive has set, clean the surface of dirt and wait until the surface is completely dry. If the tiles are stained with glue – you can use sandpaper.

Impregnation

A surface that is dry and free of dirt can be impregnated. Impregnation allows you to achieve various end results, such as:

  • ProtectGuard – protection against stains, grease, graffiti – the surface does not change color after impregnation.
  • ProtectGuard WL Mat or ProtecGuard WF – Protection against stains and dirt – surface changes appearance – wet effect.
  • Imperguard SF – hydrophobic and anti-dust protection – the surface does not change color after impregnation.

Why impregnate:

  • Such protection will facilitate the grouting process. With impregnation, grouting can even be done with the grouting method.
  • tiles will be resistant to dirt

We proceed to this step after the glue is completely dry. If the recommended impregnator was used – remember to apply for min. 24 h before the start of work (some impregnants gain strength even up to the 5th day).

Method 1 – (tools – grout gun, grout gun, brush)

After applying the grout with a grout gun, wait for it to dry slightly. Use a grout cutter to cut off excess grout and smooth the surface. Before the grout dries, you can also use a brush with short bristles to even out and achieve a more natural grout texture.

Method 2 – semi-dry method (tools – trowel, jointer, brush)

Minimum joint width of 8mm to 20mm. The consistency of the grout should resemble moist soil. After thorough mixing, press the mortar is applied with a grout gun between the brick tiles. Before the grout dries, you can also use a brush with short bristles to even out and achieve a more natural grout texture.

Method 3 – wet method – grouting (rubber trowel, sponge trowel, tiling bucket with rollers)

Minimum joint width of 5mm to 20mm. After thoroughly mixing the grout, apply it to the impregnated surface (1 coat of impregnant) left to dry for a minimum of 24 hours. Then spread the mortar / grout evenly. It is convenient to use a trowel with rubber (for grouting ceramic tiles). After evenly spreading the grout, as soon as the grout slightly begins to dry (2-3 min) using a sponge float start washing off, rinsing the sponge often with clean water. After a tidal period of 5-8 hours after grouting, we recommend washing the tiles with a 50/50 solution of water and vinegar or Guard Remover® Eco Efflorescence & cement .
